Four New And Proven Applications Of The Metaverse
Updated: Nov 16, 2022
Metaverse has gained a lot of big investors and users in a short period. Meta, Google, Snapchat, etc., all have stakes in the game.
It has applications in digital marketing, healthcare, gaming, academics, and more.
In this UNICHED article, we have explained four great applications of the metaverse and how much of an impact it might have in those respective industries.
Metaverse for children: the virtual playground
Metaverse enhances the experience by making it more immersive for the participants. More and more businesses are adding AR and VR compatibility to give a world-class experience to their visitors.
The gaming industry has caught right up.
But we are not here to talk about how amazing Half-Life: Alyx is. (Seriously, check it out).
We are here to talk about the initiative taken by Epic Games and the Lego Group to bring playgrounds to children.
Epic Games is a game publisher known for games like Fortnite. Lego, on the other hand, is a household name dominating the playtime of children for decades. Both them partnering up to deliver the best playing experience is the most exciting thing for kids and parents.
Lego has announced this initiative on Instagram which promises to build a safe play area for children. This has been confirmed by a blog post announcement by Epic games.
As children move seamlessly between real and virtual worlds, it has become more and more crucial for gaming companies to deliver an experience like that. This collaboration between Epic Games and the Lego Group promises to deliver just that.
Apart from a great playing experience, children will be able to interact with each other just like in real life with their parent's supervision. As privacy and safety become a priority, both companies have declared that it would be their priority.
Currently, the details are under wraps, but a personalized and safe digital experience for children and parents is around the corner.
MVFW: Metaverse Fashion Week
Fashion brands have already leveraged the power of AR to give a unique shopping experience to their customers. For example, Sephora lets its customers “try” their beauty products before they make their purchase.

But the MVFW has taken things one step further.
Featuring brands like Dolce and Gabbana, Estee Lauder, and Balenciaga, the MVFW featured great outfits for five days. On the last day, performer Grimes took over the stage and closed the curtains of the show.
Apart from virtual ramp walks, there were panel discussions, interviews, and releases from multiple brands. Lots of NFTs were also created and launched into the blockchain, attracting art enthusiasts and investors.
However, not everything was working the way it was supposed to. For instance, the Etro show on the third day saw multiple issues. Bad garments design, mediocre graphics, not enough designs in the collection, and poor audience behavior were just some of them.
From a broader perspective, it was a success but the organizers of MVFW still need to tweak things to deliver the best experience.
Virtual movie promotion platform
After NFTs and the metaverse started gaining popularity, movie makers leveraged this opportunity to reach GenZ.
Now, it is quite common for actors in the movies to release NFT collections and create the avatars of the characters in the metaverse. To make the whole experience even more interactive, environments similar to the movies are created virtually.
Recently, the KGF verse has been released to promote the movie KGF: Chapter 2. It was open to all a week before the film’s release. In there, a visitor can purchase NFTs, interact with the avatars, and many more. It did a great job at promoting the movie.
The movie earned more than $4.55M in India during the first weekend!
More and more movies are following suit after realizing the massive advantage bought by the metaverse.
Upgraded workplace for remote workers
Remote workers have always been challenged by collaboration challenges. Even though apps like Zoom and Slack have improved a lot and have closed the gap, there is nothing that can replace face-to-face interaction.
Until now.
Metaverse has opened the possibility of face-to-face interaction remotely. Employees and clients can interact more lively and get more done. There will be fewer communication gaps as AR and VR will work to give a real-world experience.
For instance, the offices of employees can be constructed in the metaverse where everyone can interact with each other.
Next Meet, an Indian company focussing on 3D-based remote collaboration promises just that.
Here are a few things that it promises to its users.
Higher employee engagement.
Increased interactivity among employees, managers, and clients.
Fostering a better work culture.
Qualitative collaboration and increased productivity.
That’s a Wrap
Metaverse still has a long way to grow and a lot to improve upon. As the hardware technology continues to extend its capability, so does the metaverse with its functionalities.
With innovations coming up every day, we are looking forward to an exciting world of metaverses.
